Our Story
Our New Location
Bindi Yoga Center was opened in 2012 by Susan and Michelle, a mother and daughter who had each fallen in love with yoga. They even completed teacher training together. Over nearly 14 years as a studio, Bindi reached tens of thousands of people in the community and changed the lives of countless students, teachers and staff. Two of those people whose lives were changed are the new owners of Bindi Community Yoga. The first, Shanah, was a client for 11 years and taught at Bindi for ten. The second, Jen, was a client for many years before also acquiring her CYT200 and teaching classes at Bindi. When Bindi closed their doors in December of 2023, it left a hole in the yoga community and in the hearts of many. We are so grateful to be able to step up to meet this need.
With much support, (and some *light* bullying), Shanah was inspired to take the torch from Susan and Michelle and find Bindi a new home for her next chapter. Along with her partner Jennifer, Shanah was able to secure our new location and a fresh start for our community to once again come together to practice almost exactly a year from when we closed our doors.
What makes Bindi Community Yoga so special is obvious. So obvious in fact that we added it to our name. It is our community. Bindi is a place where people have been coming and will be able to come once again to feel supported in their yoga journey, as well as in their life. Yoga is so powerful when practiced together. Breath-work is transformative especially when shared. Laughing…at times crying… and encouraging one another on and off the mat is integral to what gives Bindi her beating heart. We are a community and we are so excited for you to join us!
We believe yoga is for EVERY BODY. We believe in inclusion and accessibility. We believe in a practice which is rooted in the traditions from which it has been lent to us. We believe that with yoga you can change your body and your mind, and that can change the world. We believe in the power of community, and we believe in you.
Namaste and so much love,
Shanah and Jen
